From 1 May 2023, all German residents will be able to use the analogue of the 9 Euro ticket, the so-called D-Ticket.

D-Ticket allows you easily travel on all types of the local public transport for 49 euros per month. Subscriptions on the Deutschland-Ticket is available online.

Please note that the Deutschland-Ticket is only available by subscription.
According to the official DB website, the €49 ticket is a successor to the €9 ticket, which was offered as a special measure in the summer months of 2022. The 9-Euro ticket was introduced by the German government to ease the burden on people due to the sharp rise in electricity, food, heating and mobility costs.
The programme proved to be very successful and also helped the environment by encouraging more use of public transport. As a result, the D-ticket will be offered as a permanent subscription. This will make it even easier to change your car to a more environmentally friendly mode of transport.
Where can I buy the Deutschland-Ticket?
Customers can purchase the Deutschland-Ticket via DB sales channels such as bahn.com and the DB Navigator app, as well as at DB Travel Centres throughout Germany. Many other transport companies will also sell the Deutschland-Ticket via their sales channels.

You can travel with the Deutschland-Ticket from 1 May 2023.
Who can travel for free?
Children under 6 years old travel free of charge. They do not need a ticket. Children from the age of 6 need their own ticket, for example a D-Ticket.
Can I travel together or transfer my ticket to another person?
No, the D-ticket is not transferable to other persons, it is a personalised ticket.
Can I transport dogs for free if the owner has a D-ticket?
No, it does not include the carriage of dogs, an additional ticket must be purchased for the animal.
Can I transport a bicycle with a D-ticket?
Bicycles can be transported free of charge with a ticket where it is allowed or was allowed before.
