Bundesregierung.de reports that in the near future all recipients of social benefits in Germany will receive an increase in their amount.
Already in January, single adults will receive 563 euros instead of 502 euros per month. Since Ukrainians receive assistance at the same level as German citizens, they can also count on similar financial support.
According to the approved resolution, the standard amounts of social assistance payments and Bürgergeld will increase as of January 1, 2024 by:
• 563 euros for single persons (instead of 502 euros)
• 506 euros for partners in married couples (451 euros)
• 451 euros for adults in institutions (402 euros)
• 471 euros for teenagers aged 14-17 (420 euros)
• 390 euros for children 6-13 years old (348 euros)
• 357 euros for children under 5 years old (318 euros)
It is interesting that social payments in 2024 will increase by 12% as a whole and will entail an increase in payments for school supplies, from the first half of the school year from 116 euros to 130 euros, and in the next half year - from 58 euros to 65 euros.
Bürgergeld, also known as citizen's allowance, is provided as a basic allowance for jobseekers, and this applies to both German citizens and Ukrainians with temporary protection.
But it is worth remembering that it is always better to work, because it is a much higher income and the opportunity to obtain a permit for permanent residence in Germany.
