Simplification of crossing the Polish border in 2023-2024.

Are you familiar with the 10-hour queues at Ukrainian-Polish, long-term checks of bus passengers and documents of conscripts?

Starting next year, all this will be a thing of the past, because Poland and Ukraine have simplified the rules for crossing the border. Preparations are already underway so that everything approved will be fully operational after the New Year.

If you crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border in August 2023 through the Shegyny or Krakovec checkpoints, you could have already noticed certain changes. I will talk about all this in today's video.

What has changed on the Polish-Ukrainian border already now?

ECHERGA (electronic queue) has been available in Polish-Ukrainian since August. Thanks to this service, drivers can reserve border crossings for a specific date and time. Thus, there is no longer a need to stand in traffic, which significantly saves time, fuel and, accordingly, money. So far, the system is working in test mode at the checkpoints "Szegyny" and "Krakowec".

What else are they planning to change on the Polish-Ukrainian border?

Very soon, after full testing, the system will be launched at all checkpoints. It is predicted already in mid-autumn 2023. Therefore, bus trips will become much more comfortable.

In addition, Ukraine will open 9 new checkpoints to the European Union, 6 of them to Poland. Such a decision aims to relieve motorists of the current checkpoints and significantly speed up border crossing. The existing checkpoints are planned to be modernized.

Also, the existing checkpoints will become unified, that is, you will be checked only once, and not, as it happens now, the verification of documents by two parties.

All this is aimed at speeding up the integration of Ukraine into the European space and reducing corruption at the border, comments the government of Ukraine.
